Podi Kizhi is a traditional Ayurvedic method of treating pain in the back, limbs, joints and muscles. This unique procedure is performed using cotton bags (kizhi) filled with crushed medicinal herbs preheated in Ayurvedic medicinal oil. Heated in oil, the medicinal herbal mixture is activated and all the medicinal properties of both the oil and the herbal mixture itself are revealed.
The thermal effect, in combination with the therapeutic properties of medicinal herbs, has a vasodilating effect, increases blood circulation, relieves inflammation, has an analgesic effect, rejuvenates and strengthens joints and soft tissues, and prevents muscle degeneration. Kizhi also stimulates the elimination of toxins, calms the nervous system. This type of therapy harmonizes the doshas and all the processes of the internal organs.
