Indian Abhyanga massage is one of the most famous varieties of Ayurvedic massages. This is not only for therapeutic benefits but also very relaxing massage, which, like all Ayurvedic massages, is performed with heated Ayurvedic oil. Longitudinal sweeping movements along the whole body are aimed at establishing links between the Marma energy points and removing blocks that impede the smooth flow of energy. Also Indian Abhyanga massage technique is designed to nourish the body with oils. For the relaxation version of Abhyanga massage, a standard combination of Ayurvedic oils is used, but oils can also be selected individually, in accordance with the constitution of a person, his condition and season. A combination of oils can only be selected by an Ayurveda doctor. In this case, Abhyanga massage will have a pronounced therapeutic effect and can be used as a separate therapy (from 5 to 21 sessions), as well as an integral part of panchakarma. In order for the oils to be absorbed and deeply penetrated into the skin and joints, it takes 1-2 hours, so the recommended duration of an Abhyanga massage is from one to two hours.
Indian Abhyanga massage restores the protective barrier and skin respiration, relieves nervous tension and cleanses the mind, helps to eliminate toxins and normalize the gastrointestinal tract.
