About our Ayurvedic Day Spa

Indian massage in the centre of Budapest

The 5 Elements Ayurvedic Day Spa is located at Blaha Lujza Square, in the very centre of Budapest, and was created for those who would like to discover a genuine Indian tradition — Indian massage, Spa treatments and Ayurveda as a system of health care.

Our team includes therapists from India (Kerala — the home of Ayurveda) and a doctor of Ayurvedic medicine. The menu of the salon offers more than 40 kinds of massages, Spa treatments and Ayurvedic programmes — from the classic Abhyanga and Marma massage to Panchakarma treatments, facial and body care. And if you are really short of time, a short treatment will do: Padabhyanga or a Shiro Abhyanga head massage of 30 minutes.

WHY THE 5 ELEMENTS AYURVEDIC DAY SPA?

Real Indian tradition in the centre of Budapest

If you are looking for an Indian massage in Budapest, this is where the authentic tradition of Kerala, experienced Indian therapists, the supervision of an Ayurvedic doctor and a calm Spa environment come together.

Our selection is exceptionally wide — there is a treatment for every request, mood and schedule. Alongside the classic Indian Abhyanga massage and the deeper Marma massage, you can also try such rare techniques as Shirodhara — a warm stream of oil flowing onto the forehead — or the Tibetan chakra massage with singing bowls. You can also choose a hot stone chakra massage or an Abhyanga in four hands. In addition to massages, Spa packages are available if you are looking for a longer programme of several treatments.

Even when time is short, rest is not cancelled. Thirty minutes of an Indian foot massage or a head massage is enough to step out of the flow of daily tasks and feel lighter again.

And the main difference: here you can come not only for a relaxing massage but also for Ayurvedic medicine. If your goal is treatment rather than rest, our Ayurvedic doctor will select the therapy that suits your condition and, if needed, a Panchakarma course of cleansing and regeneration.

We opened the salon in 2020 and have been creating a place in the heart of Budapest ever since, where the traditions of India meet the joy of rest.

OUR INDIAN MASSAGES

At the Ayurvedic Day Spa we offer different kinds of Indian massage — from the traditional techniques of Kerala to gentler oil treatments for relaxation and rest. You can choose a single massage or a longer Spa programme.

For our Indian massages we use natural coconut oil warmed over a candle. In therapeutic Ayurvedic treatments we use special medicated oils, which our Ayurvedic doctor selects individually.

Below are a few of the most popular treatments from our menu.

Indian Abhyanga massage

One of the main Indian full-body oil massages. Warm oil, rhythmic movements and traditional technique help to relax the muscles, release tension and calm down. The same massage is also an important part of Panchakarma, where it is performed more intensively and with specially selected medicated oils.

Indian Marma massage

A massage working on the marma points — special zones to which the Indian tradition attaches great importance. A deeper and more focused treatment for those who prefer intensive work with the body.

Indian relaxing oil massage

A gentle Indian massage with warm coconut oil and flowing movements without strong pressure. A good choice for a first acquaintance with Indian massage, or simply to relax after a busy day.

Abhyanga in four hands

Two therapists perform the full-body massage simultaneously and in perfect synchrony. Thanks to the constant rhythm the movements feel especially harmonious, helping you let go of tension and relax completely, faster than usual.

Indian head massage with Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a continuous thin stream of warm oil directed onto the forehead. Combined with a head massage it is a particularly pleasant treatment for those who experience mental overload and wish to relax deeply.

Padabhyanga — Indian foot massage

A massage of the feet and lower legs with warm oil and attention to the reflex zones. Especially welcome after a lot of walking, a day spent standing or an intense day of work.

Tibetan chakra massage with singing bowls

The combination of massage and the vibration of singing bowls creates an unusual sensory experience and helps you relax. It suits those who would like to try something different from a classic Spa massage.

The full list of treatments can be found in the services of the Ayurvedic Day Spa: Spa packages, facial and body care, programmes for couples and weight-loss programmes.

AYURVEDA AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

A relaxing Indian massage and an Ayurvedic therapy are two different things. The first is there to help you rest; the second is part of Ayurveda — the oldest Indian system of health care, more than five thousand years old. In Europe it is classified as alternative medicine, but in India it is a complete science of the body, nutrition, breathing and way of life, in which massage is only one element.

Consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor

Our salon has its own doctor of Ayurvedic medicine, Dr. Namitha Jacob. During the consultation she determines your constitution (dosha) and the current imbalance, and then selects treatments, medicated oils, herbs and recommendations on nutrition. This is what makes an Ayurvedic therapy different from a Spa massage: the programme is built for one particular person.

Panchakarma and cleansing of the body

Panchakarma is a course of several Ayurvedic treatments aimed at cleansing and regeneration. Our menu includes Nasyam, Kati Vasti for the lower back, Greeva Vasti for the neck, Njavara Kizhi, Podi Kizhi with herbal pouches and other treatments. The course is put together individually — from a few days to a complete programme.

Weight-loss and detox programmes

The Ayurvedic approach to weight is not about burning calories but about restoring the metabolism: the dry Udvartanam massage, herbal preparations, steam treatments and recommendations on daily routine. Such programmes make sense as a course and under the supervision of a doctor.

WHICH MASSAGE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Indian massage comes in many forms, and on a first visit it is not always easy to decide which treatment suits you best. If you are unsure, you do not have to choose on your own: our Ayurvedic doctor will professionally select the treatment that is right for your condition and your mood.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCOVER INDIAN MASSAGE

Start with the Indian Abhyanga massage of 60 minutes. This is the basic treatment with warm coconut oil, the one all the others build upon.

IF YOU SUFFER FROM TENSION AND STIFFNESS

The Marma massage is a good choice: the work is focused on the points where tension is held the longest.

IF YOUR MIND IS OVERLOADED AND YOU SLEEP BADLY

Choose Shirodhara — the continuous warm stream of oil onto the forehead. Many call it the most unusual treatment of the Indian tradition.

IF YOUR LEGS ARE TIRED

30–60 minutes of Padabhyanga or an Indian foot massage is enough — a short treatment after which walking feels noticeably easier.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TREATMENT, NOT ONLY REST

Book a consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor. She will determine your constitution (dosha), take your well-being into account and put together an Ayurvedic programme — up to a complete Panchakarma course.

IF YOU ARE COMING AS A COUPLE

There are programmes for couples and Spa packages of several treatments in a row.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the Ayurvedic Day Spa open?

Our salon is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00 — weekends and public holidays included. Address: 1088 Budapest, Rákóczi út 55., next to Blaha Lujza Square.

What is Abhyanga and where is the best place to start?

Abhyanga is one of the main Indian full-body oil massages. As a Spa treatment it is performed in a softer and more relaxing form, while within Panchakarma the same massage can be more intensive and is carried out with specially selected medicated oils.

If you are discovering the Indian tradition for the first time, Abhyanga is a good place to start. Warm natural coconut oil, rhythmic movements and the traditional technique help you relax, release tension and feel a pleasant warmth throughout the body.

What is Shirodhara?

Shirodhara is a treatment in which a thin, warm stream of oil flows continuously onto the forehead. It is one of the best-known Indian techniques and is chosen in cases of mental overload, restless thoughts and poor sleep.

Do you have a real Ayurvedic doctor?

Yes. Our salon has its own doctor of Ayurvedic medicine, Dr. Namitha Jacob, and our therapists come from Kerala — the Indian state considered to be the home of Ayurveda. During the consultation the doctor determines your constitution and selects treatments, oils and herbs for your condition.

What is Panchakarma and how long does it take?

Panchakarma is a course of Ayurvedic treatments for cleansing and regenerating the body. The programme is put together individually: it may be a few days of separate treatments (Nasyam, Kati Vasti, Njavara Kizhi and others) or a longer course under the supervision of the doctor.

Is Ayurveda medicine or Spa?

In Europe Ayurveda is classified as alternative medicine, and our treatments do not replace medical care. At the same time, in India Ayurveda is a complete system of knowledge about the body and the way of life, so you are welcome to come simply for a relaxing Indian massage, or for a programme designed by the Ayurvedic doctor.

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking in advance is better — it is easier to choose a convenient time and a particular therapist. We take requests by phone, on WhatsApp (+36 30 99-1-5555) and through the website; if there is a free slot, a same-day appointment is also possible.

Can I give a massage as a gift?

Yes, we have gift certificates — for a particular treatment or for an amount. The certificate can be arranged online or in the salon, and the recipient then chooses the date and the treatment.
